I don't care who asked to have it done, this is a push poll.

Terri Schiavo has been in a so-called persistent vegetative state since 1990. Her eyes sometimes open, but doctors say she has no consciousness. Terris husband says his wife would rather die than be kept alive artificially and wants her feeding tube removed. Terris parents believe she could still recover and want the feeding tube to remain. If you were Terris guardian, what would you do? SCALE: 1. Would you remove the feeding tube 2. Or would you keep the feeding tube inserted? 3. (Not sure) A push poll. They ask for opinions based on a a fallacy of their own creation. I'm not sure how I would have responded when the "facts" were stated this way.

Morality, democracy, and polls and not synonomous.
And in other news, a democratic majority of 3rd Reich citizens supported the "final solution" of murdering millions of their neighbors.

And that's what's so scary.

what amazes me on this one is most people selecting "the spouse" as the one to pull the plug. most people marry strangers, that's really the truth, you know someone for a relatively short period of time during courtship before marriage. so that same person is pulling the plug on me? I'll trust my parents any day.

You know when I first heard and saw this I was one who said remove the feeding tube and quite frankly I still think she should be freed from that body if that was truly her wishes. The problem as I see it is that you can't trust that sorry husband of hers and you can't rely on the parents because they won't let it happen even if she really did want that to happen. So the only way that I see to resolve the matter is through a truly unbiased third party. If they are going to keep her alive, then for godsakes at least start some type of therapy for her.

It's because of the way she's being portryaed by the media. When I hear "persistant vegitative state" I think of someone who has absolutely no brain activity. Brain dead, perhaps. And in that case, to my mind that person is already dead. This is not the case with Terri, as anyone who has seen any of teh video will tell you. Unfortunately most people polled probably haven't seen the video.

exactly. i hear brain dead all the time. people who are brain dead can't survive on a feeding tube only.

No wonder - Look at the way the questions were posed. False information.

The parents already told the husband to please take the money and let them take their daughter home and he refused. There is only $50,000 or $55,000 left in Terri's account because her husband spent it on lawyers so he could unhook her. The parents also offered him big money to walk away and he also refused that.

My sentiments exactly.
Before I could or would participate in a "survey",I would have to walk a mile in their shoes.

"I've also read some of the medical reports that confirm she is in a persistent vegetative state, along with info on what that means.
I guess I'm just not informed properly. "
There are also doctors who are experts in this field that say she does not meet the criteria for a persistent vegetative state. They were not allowed to testify in this case, but have stated outide the courtroom and in sworn dispositions that Terri is not in a persistent vegetative state.
One of the doctors who testified for the husband's side also testified in another case that the man was in a persistent vegetative state. This man later woke up from his persistent vegetative state.

I agree with you on the heroin thing, but I don't think her state is a 'coma' exactly, I am no expert but I think that with therapy whe might have gotten a little better but by now it is too late.

I, and apparently the majority of Americans, believe in "Death with Dignity". There is no dignity in this circus. Pray for Terri and let her go to a better place.
