[history]
Washington -- Much of American politics is theater. And Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger has quickly established himself as a master.
In less than 48 hours in the nation's capital, Schwarzenegger visited the right venues, met the right characters and delivered the right lines, hoping to harness his celebrity into resources for California.

The really big question in DC is, if next year, Maria Shriver will be the chairwoman of "Democratic Babes for Bush?"

Leave it to the San Francisco Chronicle to spin Arnold's discretion into unfulfilled promises!
Of course he's not going to disclose specifics yet!

I'm sure Mary Bono-- the state's top GOP woman-- is working on her. I'd be shocked if she shows up to the Boston convention-- a win of its own for us. Will she show up in NYC? Well, Arnold will have a primetime speech to give to the delegates and the world viewers tuned in-- and I expect she'll be in the audience for that at least. I've never heard her be shrill and hateful, so she may not even be a Democrat-- I've never heard of a Democrat woman who didn't act like that.
Come on, Zell-- tell Maria to hop aboard the bandwagon to victory.

Actually, I heard most of the speech she gave defending Arnold, when the LATimes story first broke..and she was excellent..you could also tell that she was really annoyed at how unfair it all was..the obvious smear...she hasn't said much since...but if the left/Dems go forward with their plans to have hearings, to give the women a public forum, in an attempt to embarrass the Gov..well, it could push her over the top.....

Norm-During the recall election a scary thought came to me. It appears to me, Maria would to be a viable candidate for high office in CA. She is famous, articulate, a Kennedy, and the wife of a celebrity turned politician. She most certainly would run as a democrat and have the backing of Arnold and all the Kennedy's. She would be tough to beat in this liberal state. My wife thinks she would not run because of the 4 kids they have at home. But this fact has not stopped other women from throwing their hat in the ring.

"... spending 90 minutes at Walter Reed Army Medical Center visiting American soldiers wounded in Iraq. He made the trip without announcing it to the press and without cameras..."The most meaningful line in the story.
