Civil Suit in Shreveport Seeks Damages from Christian School over Alleged Sexual Abuse

Judge Scott Crichton on Thursday set a May 10 court date to hear the civil case filed by a former student against Evangel Christian Academy football coach Dennis Dunn and a group of defendants.

The suit, filed in January 2002, seeks unspecified damages from Dunn, First Assembly of God pastor and Evangel chancellor Denny Duron, Denny Duron Evangelistic Association, Frances Duron, Rick Berlin and John Booty. It alleges they knew of but did not report to authorities a nine-month sexual relationship between an underage female Evangel student and Dunn, as well as improper sexual conduct directed at the girl by a female teacher.
