Exactly! That's why he managed to make his ludicrous comment to Diane Sawyer that Laci was mopping the floor cause the maid only washed half the floor. He said HE emptied the bucket.

Through the maid's testimony it was obvious that once she started cleaning for Laci, nobody touched the floors until the maid's next trip back.

I read the testimony, but I don't recall their asking the maid if she really only mopped half the floor. (We know that's not so, but they needed to bring that out plainly.)
