Now that someone went and retrieved my needle-nose pliers from my husband's car, I've been sitting here combing my hair with them.

I opened them all the way, and ran them through my hair. I tried to get a hair caught right in the middle of them.

One reason a hair wouldn't get stuck in there the way I wanted it to, was b/c when a hair would pass directly through the very middle, it would always break, or rather, be cut. The very middle of such pliers is a CUTTING TOOL.

Maybe what they originally thought was a single hair caught in the middle of the pliers, was actually two hairs caught in them. And then when they got them out, it would be in two pieces.
