What that looks like is the "HTML" source code for a MIcrosoft Word Web Doc...

Has the word.doc you e-mailed been opened by someone else? Sounds like HTML "style" stuff occurring. Were your documents attachments or embedded into your email program?

Um, what format are you saving in?
If you're saving it in text or rtf or html, then Word could be putting in weird things.
Also, check your settings (Tools | Options on the menu) and make sure you don't have 'Nonprinting characters' selected on the 'View' tab.
FWIW, make sure that you have the latest virus scan updates. If you don't have it or don't feel like paying for one, go to
Grisoft and click on the free AVG software on the left hand side.
You could have a little macro virus.
Also, make sure windows is patched with the latest updates.
I don't want it to sound like I think your system is buggy, but barring a formatting error, most likely there's something funky.
Regards.

I'm saving as .doc I've tried to save a few other ways, but get the same thing. I also check the settings and everything looks right. I haven't changed anything since I started getting the gibberish. Also, I do have virus software, but nothing has came up on it.
I appreciate the info. Thanks!

I think it's a quotation mark in one of the HTML versions.

Open word. Click on Tools, then templates and Add-Ins. Is there anything listed in there?
Also, you might delete the Normal.dot file. Word will create a new one when it restarts, in case the .dot file is the problem. But I'm not 100% certain on that one.

When you say you can save it--are you saving it to your hard drive after you create the "new" document or are you saving it from your e-mail, having received it via an email attachment or what exactly do you mean?
To: RedBloodedAmerican
Nothing is listed. It says 'normal' in the attachment box.

Normal is Billy boyz default and I don't believe you can delete it--I think you can only modify it.. I HATE WORD
To: flutters
Ok, then I am way off. It does have to do with viewing it with html.

It looks fine on the screen but then when I open it back up it has that junk at the end.

Yea, you can delete it. A virus fix (it was sircam or something around that time period) required the normal.dot file to be replaced by deleting it.
To: flutters
Do you know what styles are? Do you work with them at all?
To: RedBloodedAmerican
Thanks for trying. I greatly appreciate it. :)

Are you pasting something into the document from another source?
