Ah, but a Steinbrenner would fail in the NFL. Remember that the current Yankees dynasty was built in the years that George was banned from running team by the league. Before that the team had spent fortunes but hadn't won since the late 70's. And those two teams won because George was the first to spend big on free agency. Once the rest of the league got a handle on the changed situation, the Yankees didn't win another championship until after George was exiled. But neither their 70's champs nor the current dynasty would be possible in the NFL because of the hard salary cap.
Plus, TV revenue in the NFL is national and shared equally among the teams. TV revenue in baseball is mostly local and it's here that the Yankees make so much cash that they could spend more than everyone else and still break even with zero attendance.

Maybe. Steinbrenner is a meddler that maybe does more harm than good. But, at least he wants to win. Contrast that with the Ford family, the shoulder-shrugging, indifferent, oh well we lost again, woe are we, let's buy one headline player to put butts in the seats, we've been owners for decades but admit we don't have a clue about football or what it takes to win, Ford family.
