Sharon: We are holding talks with low-level PA officials
By JPOST.COM STAFF

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Thursday night that Israel was holding talks with Palestinian officials that are not on the political level of Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei.

"We are in contact with Palestinians, however not of the level of prime ministers," Sharon said.

"The reason we don't have prime ministerial level contacts stems from the fact that Palestinians have requested time to allow the designated Palestinian prime minister to establish himself," Sharon said.

"We are ready to enter negotiations at any time," the prime minister said.

Sharon said that Israel was asked by the Palestinians to hold the contacts with the lower level officials in order to allow Qurei to establish his position.

Sharon also said that he believes that Israel is on the verge of a breakthrough in diplomatic talks with the Palestinians.

"I believe that we are on the verge of making a breakthrough and entering a path of peace and quiet," he said.

This is, of course, the same Ariel Sharon whom NPR did a hit piece on today. He is building settlements so he can't possibly want peace, right?

"Low-level Palestinian Officials"

Isn't that kind of redundant?

I am honestly afraid of the "diplomatic breakthrough" the Prime Minister is referring to. I can't see anything to indicate a change of heart on the Palestinian side. Am I just being paranoid?

Not at all. I almost appreciate the honesty of Hamas wanting to destroy Israel more than Arafat's approach. A breakthrough will ultimately involve the PA convincing Hamas & the others to join them in acting like they want Peace to get Israel to withdraw from the West Bank & Gaza, at which point the final War for Israel will begin.

"Sharon: We are holding talks with low-level PA officials"

Why? No matter what they agree to, at any level, they'll come in at the last minute with additional, impossible demands ("turn all of Jerusalem over to the PA") and when they don't what they demand, they or their Hamas soldiers will murder a bunch of mostly innocent Jews.

Is there any question that this will happen again? No, first, the Hollywood Mossad agents (Jen, Danny & Brad) must get rid of Arafat.
