I seriously doubt that we have the intestinal fortitude to turn the Middle East into a glass parking lot.

You wish...the middle east will never be blown to pieces like you think it should. 9-11 should have been the time when we took it to Syria and Saudi Arabia. No questions asked.

The only time this country will ever do anything on a drastic scale would be if the death toll was in the hundreds of thousands. 9-11 was not a big enough body count.

If they could actually pull something of this scale off, they'd be doing it and not yapping about it like a bunch of teenage boys bragging about how far they are getting with their girlfriends.

Al Qaeda and their ilk are losing support and they are forced to make pronouncements like this to keep just a spark of hope alive among what followers they have left. They are just buying time here, but time is running out for them and they know it.

What, pray tell, gives you the notion that our leaders have the fortitude to take drastic action in the Middle East? They don't. Reagan was the last president who would've had the strength to do something like that. I miss him.

Although I applaud your sentiment, and agree with your reaction, I don't believe anyone in power has the intestinal fortitude to do such a thing, nor make the threat to do such a thing. Men like this died when Ronald Reagan left the office.

I heard a story on Houston talk radio yesterday about an army officer who saved American lives by scaring an Iraqi informant with use of his sidearm, and firing two shots in the general direction of the informant's head. The US trained Iraqi police officer who was working for the Bathists was not harmed. After this happened, the Iraqi blabbered, and told the American officer anything he wanted to know. The information given was about an attack on American forces and an attempt to take this particular officer's life. This officer has been relieved of his command and awaits a possible court marshall for his trouble. In my opinion, this Iraqi should have then been shot through the head and the Officer given a medal.

We have become a civilization of cowards, unable to make the tough decisions about our future. Those who do make the tough decisions and are proven right are punished and ridiculed.

Socialism, political correctness, and tolerance will be the death of this society unless our leaders look back on and take up the examples of brave souls who were the saviors of our country in the past.

In your heart of hearts...do you really think so. I don't.

"Al-Qaeda is going to carry out a death blow against Americans during the month of Ramadan,"

Sad to say, but if this were to occur, I suspect any shred of resolve that still remains regarding the war on terror may melt away. I hope I'm wrong. This nation has surprised me more than once.

We don't have the balls to do it. I agree with you, but "respected" "mainstream" people in Washington don't think that way. We think 21st century, enemies think 18th century. Bad news for us IMO.

"If they should pull something off you can say goodbye to the middle east"

Under our current plan, this sort of threat, if real, would require a pre-emptive strike that would "shock and awe" all the ME.

In my opinion, neither will come to pass, there is too much oil at stake for either side to allow such events.
