For everyone who thinks that nukes will fly after another 9/11++ attack here's a question - especially for those of you with military experience: The military does nothing within a plan (and I don't mean something drawn on the back of a napkin). There are comprehensive plans for every contingency. Do you believe there is a military plan that calls for using nuclear weapons on the Middle East? What contingency do you believe would cause that plan to be executed? Let's stop fantasizing and start thinking strategically.

Do you believe there is a military plan that calls for using nuclear weapons on the Middle East? Absolutely ...
What contingency do you believe would cause that plan to be executed?
A chemical weapon or nuclear strike on an American city will cause them to fly.
Let's stop fantasizing and start thinking strategically.
Strategically the places to strike will be Mecca, Medina and Riyadh. Tactically the places wil be where known bases of terrorists or terrorists supporters are.

I know some people here get a hard on thinking about nuking the Middle East but it ain't going to happen. What would we nuke? What purpose would it serve?
The only way to win the overall war on terrorism is to:
1) eliminate the terrorists we know of (what we're doing)
2) eliminate the Islamist clerics (I hope we're doing this)
3) saturate the ME with clever propaganda
I think that part of our problem is that we promote "doves" in the ME and they get bullied by the Islamists. We need tough leaders to emerge. Ones that can be dictatorial yet not malignant.

If they take out the core government, what do you think President Hastert [shudder] would do in response?
