National education researchers scolded Arizona for widening the funding gap between its rich and poor students at a time when most states are closing the divide.

Arizona spends nearly $1,000 less per child to educate its poor students than it spends on wealthier students, giving it the sixth-highest such gap in the nation, according to research released Wednesday by the Education Trust.

Let's see. Our governor has asked for approximately ONE BILLION DOLLARS in tax increases. My school district wants to raise taxes (again). We have Prop. 414 that voters must approve which would keep the county hospital open and would also pay for the illegals via PROPERTY TAXES.

It is getting way out of hand.

Maybe it's because the wealthy people are more willing to vote for a levy that supports their schools.

Imagine that.

It's ridiculous to include building costs in a survey like this. Horne is exactly right. The poorer students are likely to live in older urban areas where schools already exist. There's no need to build new ones. In fact, they probably are having to close schools in those areas.
