I don't believe JD was one of the sponsors of the Kolbe-Flake-McCain guest worker bill, which legalizes those who are already here working; but he MAY support some form of guest worker legislation.
BUT he is against the proposed "Protect Arizona Now" initiative; probably because it appears "mean-spirited".

Laura Ingraham interviewed Hayworth on her show this morning and asked him about PAN. He stated that he was against it because the costs of illegal immigration are primarily in federal programs, and that this is a federal responsibility.
This didn't make a lot of sense to me, since the state actions in PAN wouldn't preclude the federal government also doing something at some point in the future.
He did state his opposition in very gentle terms, though. Kept saying how he sympathized with his constituents that support the measure, and that he shared their frustration.

He argues that Mexico "has a responsibility to help control this runaway problem that is largely of its own making." As long as we allow them to send us any number of people they don't want in Mexico, there is no incentive at all for the filthy rich elites to make any changes at all ---- why should they? We'll take care of the big mess they create, and they can continue to rake in billions of dollars for themselves. Close the border ---- and they'll get right to work making some fast changes ---- they would learn very quickly it's that or head for Europe.

Today I noticed a sign posted by Walmart in their customer service area. "Transfer money to Mexico --- $15.00 fee" and in smaller print, "fees vary according to country".
This is further proof that Walmart was not just hiring illegal immigrants, but are doing everything possible to aid them.
GGGrrrrrrrrr!
It's going to take some very brave politicians to turn this train around, because Walmart is only the tip of the iceberg.

Interesting. I saw Hayworth on O'Reilly a few weeks ago supporting the McCain bill. O'Reilly was really grilling him and J.D. sounded like he was just spouting the party line...but not really believing it himself.
Either he came to his senses and broke ranks with the powers that be or got a bellyful from his constituents about his stance. Maybe both.
In any event, I ain't complaining. A borders BUMP to the top for this one!

It sure is.

"Failing the American people" that has to be one of the best pieces of political rhetoric regarding the immigration issue that I have ever heard.

I'm through with Walmart!Wish I could say the same. We own a little stock, plus the new Super Walmart in our small community is the best place to shop. (And my brother-in-law drives a Walmart truck).

how does this square with the Kolbe/McCain legislation backed by the entire AZ delegation It was never backed by the whole delegation. One or two refused to sign on.
