I just saw another photo that showed the rest of the complex being topped out. It clearly showed traditional flat plate slab and column construction. But theat was the hotel tower.

thanks...I can see more detail in those photos. Clearly it's cast in place flat plate reinforced concrete construction, not lift slab. I can see lots of plywood formwork, piles of rebar waiting to be used in the next pour in other areas.

Maybe a piece of the construction was just a bit too short and contracted in the cooling weather to the point where it detached from its fittings?
