The wildfires ravaging California from north of Los Angeles to the Mexican border marked a grim first yesterday with the death of a firefighter battling the blaze in San Diego County. He was the first worker to die fighting the fires, which cover an area the size of Rhode Island. At least 18 Californians have died since the fires began a week ago. Some 2,000 homes have been incinerated -- including, yesterday, the entire mountain village of Cuyamaca.

Environmentalists should be nailed to the wall for their gestappo tactics resulting in the curtailing or elimination of sound forestry management practices.

There's blood on their hands.

In Washington, meanwhile, the Senate, with exquisite timing, voted 97-1 as a step toward approving a bill authorizing timber thinning on 20 million acres of federal forests. The aim is to clear out underbrush and small trees that can turn a forest into kindling. The House has already passed similar legislation. Environmentalists oppose the bill, which they say encourages logging, of all evil things.

Every member of The Sierra Club should be evicted from their homes and the houses turned-over to people whose homes were lost because of the EcoFreaks' blocking of sane forest management.

If I recall correctly, there were four firefighters who died in the Los Alamos area fires a few years ago, due to being abandoned...does anyone else remember the particulars of this? I remember at the time I was outraged...

I think it was due to the roadless initiative...they'd been helicoptered into the fire, they were surrounded, and there was no road to drive in and get them out...anyone remember?

I want everyone in the United States to know that the morons in Sacramento and DC are just as much to blame for the fires as the arsonists themselves. The bark bettle has destroyed millions of trees not only in California but throughout the entire country and the politicians have FAILED to combat the problem. Democrats and Republicans alike! THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED! HEADS SHOULD ROLL!

E.D. Hill on Fox & Friends just had a guest (congresscritter, I didn't catch the name) who was talking about the impact of the enviornmentalists and the resulting poor practices.

This guest was saying that in addition to not being able to clear brush or dead trees, that the foresters haven't even been able to spray for the beetles for a long time. I didn't realize this aspect.

Kudo's to FNC for starting to bring this to light. This point needs to be driven home day after day. I'm going to email my applause to them.

It looks like Arnold has got his "emergency" he needed to raise taxes...

Now he can raise taxes with impunity regardless of what he promised.
