The lessons of Mike Dukakis [... I'd have been recalled 20 times,"]

[history]
Nearing 70, the former governor, now a professor, reflects on what he's learned.
The phone rings in the Northeastern University office where professor Michael S. Dukakis is scribbling away at his desk. On the other end of the line is a friend who wants to know how he is doing. Asked of anyone else, it would be an innocuous question. "Well, I'm living under the worst national administration of my lifetime," Dukakis barks in his trademark staccato, his caterpillar eyebrows arched to signal a punchline is coming. "If I'd beat his old man, you'd never have heard of this guy, so blame me."

Kitty Dukakis recently spoke publicly about receiving electroshock treatments, known as electroconvulsive therapy, to combat the illness that has long bedeviled her.Yea... all those empty 5ths on the front lawn were getting to be an embarassment.

Ah, the memories this post brings back. In fact, I still refer to rubbing alcohol as a "Kitty Dukocktail".

Isn't there some way we can make Boston, New York and San Francisco leave the union and go somewhere else? I am so sick of reading the leftist drivel from these places.

Dukakis ruled over, at the time, the most corrupt administration. Billy Bulger ran the state, Whitey Bulger ran crime, everyone was stealing with both hands, no show jobs, no bid contracts, hacks galore. All the while Dukakis worked his slide rule and collected aluminum cans.
Then he went to Amtrak and ruined that. Wonder why that wasnt mentioned?

"got to be ready with a well thought out strategy that not only blocks the attacks but turns them into a character issue on the guy who's doing them. Which I didn't do." He is referring to 1988. In August of that year, a poll gave Dukakis a 17-point lead over George H. W. Bush. By the end of the month -- as the Bush campaign and its surrogates hammered Dukakis on issues such as the Massachusetts prison furlough system and the environmental condition of Boston Harbor -- the Democrat had fallen 10 points behind.Jeez, let it go, Sparky. Go to the grave believing that you lost 48 states (or whatever it was) because of parole issues and a dirty harbor.

You can say he really tanked his candidacy.

Picking up litter is the only useful thing he does.

No mention of Kitty and her one little pill a day, Meth, how about the Kitty cocktail, a bottle of rubbling alky, a nurse joke at the time.
Dukaka did more to destroy this State than John "Limited Tempotary 3% Sales Tax" Volpe did, or Chub "Booze and Broads is my Style" Peabody,

The Big Dig is HIS responsibility???? They should despise him just for that fact!!
His pitiful wife was so unhappy that she drank RUBBING ALCOHOL to dull the pain!!
Policy wonks seem so self-righteous.....and now he teaches kids how to be self-righteous. Disgusting.
Wasn't he teaching in Hawaii?

Barbara Anderson, head of Citizens for Limited Taxation, says she wishes Dukakis well as a person; but as a politician, she contends, he turned Massachusetts into "taxpayer hell." "He's reaching age 70, and his `temporary' income tax is 14," Anderson says. "Maybe they can celebrate together." Classic! Barbara Anderson is a real asset to this state.
