Teacher suspended after making student disrobe
By Sarah Horner
Staff Reporter
A Union Elementary social studies teacher received a three day suspension after allegedly ordering a boy to strip in front of his classmates.
The incident, which took place last Wednesday at the Henderson County school, is being looked into by the school district's attorney Canna and Canna from the Chicago area.
According to information released by the 12-year-old-boy's parents the social studies class was discussing the Pharaohs when they ruled Egypt. The teacher, Lisa Lox, had asked her class would there be a need for laws if there were only one person left on earth. The students all responded with a 'no'. Then the teacher asked if there would be a need for laws if there were only two people on earth.
All but two students, said there would need to be laws. The two students who disagreed, included the 12-year-old and another student in the class who said they would split the earth evenly.
With that said the teacher then, to possibly help prove a point, asked the girl to give her his textbooks. He did. Then the teacher allegedly told him to take off his clothes. The sixth grader, whose name is not being published on the request of his mother, did including everything but his underwear.
Following, the boy became very upset and according to his mother "suffered an anxiety attack and passed out."
The family of the young boy is scheduled to meet with a counselor and attorneys this week. They noted they are unsure if the child will return back to Union School or not, but noted "they did not want him back in her (Lox's) classroom."
Union Elementary Principal Tony Ryan and Union Superintendent Dean Irlbeck were unavailable for comment.
It was stated by the district Monday that a statement on behalf of the school would be released. After reaching the school late Tuesday morning, no statement has been released, thus far.

I fail to see what the point was. But, in any case, I can't imagine why the kid didn't just say, "No way." I sure would have at age 12. There's something wrong with this story, but I'm not quite sure what it is, aside from the poor writing.

This person should be fired, then put in jail and lose all
pay and benefits.

There's more to this story somewhere.
Major pieces are missing.
This journalist must have gone to the New York Slimes for training or something.
There is much more to this then that, now where is the rest of it?

First off, the child should have been strong enough to know and resist such a stupid asinine demand. Where are we when a 12 year old is unable to say, "No." This reminds me of the brainwashing done by brownshirted fascists.
This goes far beyond an isolated event, stupidity, and illogic if I read the teachers frame leading to this absurdity.
The left has raised an entire generation not only unable to think for themselves, but unwilling, and frankly, probably afraid to think for themselves. This has got to stop. It bodes very badly for this country.

Well, since the teacher was a woman (did you read the article?), that seems to be unlikely to me.
What bothers me the most is the horrible writing in the article. It's almost impossible to get through, so I'm not really sure what happened in the first place.

You wrote: "if the teacher is a Christian, he will be toast!"
From the first paragraph of the article: "The teacher, Lisa Lox,"
Reading really is fundamental.

No fooling. It sounds like they've got some high school intern writing for this paper. The article is about the most badly written news story I've ever encountered.

You're right on the teacher's gender, but look how screwed up these pronouns are:
"With that said the teacher then, to possibly help prove a point, asked the girl to give her his textbooks. He did."
WTH??? I don't blame anyone for being confused by this badly-written article.

Where are we when a 12 year old is unable to say, "No." It's called indoctrination, and the schools are doing a good job at teaching children to "Do as they are told"

Aside from the fact that these comments were generally made in order to offer examples of those who would be excused for this and those who wouldn't, what makes you think that Lox is not a married name? If so, it in no way indicates any religion. Yes, reading is fundamental, and so is reading comprehension. Gee, thanks for the lesson. :^)

You know, I'm noticing more and more of this kind of writing being posted and I have to agree with you. There is a noticeable deterioration in the quality of articles being written by so-called journalists in this country. I've only got a highschool edu. but it's plain to me.......

Huh? Who cares if she's married? And who knows what her religious beliefs are. I'm really confused. First, you say that the teacher would be excused if he/she were gay. Then you go on to opine about what might happen if he/she were Christian.
The bottom line here is that this teacher is way out of line. Your gay comment was specious because the teacher is a woman. Your religion comment was specious because no mention of religion was made at all in the article.
The incident had nothing whatever to do with the teacher's gender preference or her religion. She made a little boy take off his clothes. That's all that we need to know. She should lose her job. The writer of the article should be summarily dismissed from her job at the paper, too, simply because she cannot write.
Gay? Christian? Who cares?
