I own a very nice Python that has seen fewer than 100 rounds. The blue still looks a quarter inch deep and its been in a holster less than a dozen times.
This banger is so nice I can't see shooting the hell out of it and have acquired a Trooper for weekend blasting. Call me a sentimentalist, but since these are no longer in production, I'd like to keep it at 98 percent.

By all means, preserve that Python. You have a genuine collector's item which is probably worth a great deal more now than when it was new.
