Tikrit, Iraq Press, October 25, 2003 – At least five people were shot dead in a coordinated attack last Wednesday amid signs of mounting assassination bids in a city believed to have more than 1 million unregistered firearms......The five people killed were alleged senior officers in his dreaded intelligence.

There are no exact statistics on how many loyalists of the former regime have been killed since its downfall more than six months ago.
But residents in Tikrit say no day passes without at least one murder taking place.
In Baghdad police sources say they have reports of an average of three murders of what they believe are senior members of the former security and intelligence organizations.
