It's quite bright. Looks like a false dawn all across the northern horizon. I just see blue-green color now, I don't see any pink and rose like I did earlier.
Ah, there's nothing like watching a bunch of excited air molecules in the wee hours of the morning, is there?

No lines or curtains here yet either, just the green, but it's still hours 'till dawn.

I'm sure we're far too south to see them (in Raleigh, NC), unfortunately..............but I'll NEVER forget flying night missions out of Fairbanks, AK back in the day and literally flying right under the aurora borealis. Happened twice to me........and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. This huge, grayish-green, filligreed curtain of light. Who would have thought that you could actually fly under it, past it.........like it is literally a curtain in the sky???

I'm sittin here in The Dalles with a terrific, wide open view to the north from the picture window in my living room.
I wonder how those guys up in the space station are taking this? I once read a story by an astronaut saying he'd try to stay close to the battery banks (full of lead plates) when they went through solar storms. Must be having a doozy up there right now, or maybe later today.

And you've got dark skies there! I've Seattle just north of me, and many lights all around. Wish they'd throw the main switch for the night.

We may have another good night tonight as well. We have some cloud cover right now, but with this wind, maybe it will blow out of here.

The light show of a lifetime...and it's overcast. Figures.

Yeah, overrcast here too, but I'll post a chart that will at least give a bit of intellectual thrill over what 's going on:
