Bush hosting traditional Muslim fast-breaking dinner

White House-AP -- President Bush is hosting a White House dinner tonight for Muslims observing Ramadan. It's a traditional "iftar" dinner -- for those breaking the holy month's required daily fast.

The president says he wants the world to know America welcomes Muslims -- as it welcomes adherents of all religions -- and that the war on terror is not a war against Islam.

On a visit to Indonesia last week, Muslim leaders asked Bush why Americans see all Muslims as terrorists. Bush denies that's the case. He says Americans "think terrorists are evil people who have hijacked a great religion."

At a Rose Garden news conference, Bush also again repudiated the remarks of a top Pentagon official who characterized the war as one between a Christian country and Satan. Bush says Army General William Boykin's views "don't reflect" his. But he wouldn't comment on calls for Boykin's ouster, saying the Pentagon is investigating.

In 2001. But who will you vote for if not Bush?

traditional . . . fast-breaking

Don't know it could hold a candle to the classics like the Celtics under Bill Russell or the Lakers when Magic Johnson led it.

As an American (and a Bush supporter) I can speak for myself. President Bush I don't agree with you on this statement. I think that Islam hijacked the terrorists!

-----------------------

Bush is feeble minded with a suicidal bent for this nation. He has an aura of masochistic ecstacy about him.

I just hope they keep in mind that Bush can only speak for himself. Not all Americans believe it is a great religion. A great religion founded by a pedophile rapist? I don't think so.

-------------------------

Unfortunately, in speaking for himself he can implement lunatic policies for all of us.

Thank you for making yet another confused, vacuous utterance on our behalf, Mr. President.

But I wanted to give him the benefit of doubt.

-------------------------------

Some day I'm going to write an article in praise of cynicism. Don't ever let what you want to believe deter you from believing what evidence shows you you should believe. This forum abounds with people determined to believe what they want to believe about Bush and who have temper tantrums when it's not supported. The evidence was clear from the beginning and continues to be clear that Bush is a problem child. Just because he doesn't play around on his wife and bombs a few ragheads doesn't make him a conservative or even competent. Bush never was anything but a drifter coasting on family name and contacts. In my opinion he's conducting a dangerous presidency that will end in the decline of this nation into parity with a third world swill.

I don't see them that way.

I see them as dimwitted members of a dumbass death cult for morons.

That's different, right?

What a load of dangerous crap. Bush should just shut the hell up. He's under no obligation for this dinner.

Pandering and appeasement of terrorists hurts us Mr. President, quit sucking up to those who would kill both of us.

Jr. claims to be a Christian. I'm certain that someone can square this:

He says Americans "think terrorists are evil people who have hijacked a great religion."

with the apparent abandonment of:

John 14:6 -- Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

and:

Acts 4:12 -- "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Seems to me that in honoring Islam and the espescially silly fabrication, Kwanza, he does dirt on his own faith. And I wish he wouldn't make pronouncements about what Americans think.
