What that sentence ignores is the mountain of other things that were going on simultaneously. The degradation of our military. The foreign policy that gave encouragement to terrorists and despots. The selling of our military secrets to our enemies. The stacking of our courts with leftist activist judges. Etc., etc, etc...
Precisely. I would add to your list the refusal to accept bin Laden (two or three times), the refusal to avenge WTCI, Mogadishu, Khobar Towers, the embassies, the USS Cole. Let's not forget Waco or OKC, and blaming "right-wing hate radio" for those deaths.
