Really? Teddy never pretended to be Bush's friend. It was friendly fire that threw Bush out of office in favor of the Clintons. How pathetic.

This is a very insidious way of modifying behavior, by having expectations of certain outcomes, all the while ignoring the bad or undesirable behavior, and rewarding lavishly even the smallest display of the desired activity. In this case, coming to the State of Texas.

Ole Teddy better be careful as he makes his way around Aggieland. Liberals are an endangered species in Aggieland. People are liable to mistaken him for a hefer from the dairy on the West Campus and put him out to pasture. And given his distaste for the military, I think the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band should give him a proper wake-up call of the theme from Patton at around 5 am.

True, but I wonder how this resonates with John Q. Voter. Seriously...if you weren't a politically minded person (as I assume most posters to FR are), what would you think when you see people being NICE who don't have to be...and then you see some old fart like The Swimmer spreading vitriol against those same people?

I think most people would think better of the good people and worse of The Swimmer and his ilk.

I guess an "emergency" could come up and make a snub possible.

Is this Bush Sr.'s way of rebuking W for expanding the war on terror from Afghanistan to Iraq?

No, I don't think it has anything to do with that. It is, however, what politicians do...they reward each other all the time talking about how grand "public service" is and how fortunate we have men such as these willing to "sacrifice" and become public servants. It's a farce and it's sickening. Poppy really blew it with this one.
