Moore Claims to not be Involved in "Other People's Documentaries"
MINNEAPOLIS, MN---September 27, 2003---Filmmaker Michael Moore appeared on MSNBC's Buchanan and Press earlier this month and indicated that he would not appear in any documentary other than his own, when he was pushed by hosts to be interviewed for "Michael Moore Hates America" a film now in production. The problem? Moore has and continues to participate in interviews for documentaries that promote his political agenda.
Michael Wilson, director of the upcoming "Michael Moore Hates America" quickly pointed out the error to the internet community, via his website. "Moore has appeared not only in feature films like "Lucky Numbers" opposite Lisa Kudrow and John Travolta, but a quick search of the Internet Movie Database, shows that Moore has given interviews for documentaries such as "Last Party," "Fever Pitch," and most recently, "The Corporation" which equates American corporations with the personalities of psychopaths." "The Corporation" premiered at this year's Toronto Film Festival.
Moore flip-flopped during the interview, leaving his answer as to whether he would grant Wilson an interview ambiguous. "Well, you're interviewing me," Moore said during the appearance. "So I guess I'll talk to anyone."
Wilson has stated publicly that he is merely interested in getting to the bottom of Moore's thought process. "I'm really just interested in the conversation, you know. Why does Mike take liberties in editing, statistics and arguments on things that are instantly verifiable. If it's because he believes so strongly in his political philosophy, I think his audience needs to hear that. Our film really deals with the whole genre of documentary, and how it, more than any other genre can be used to manipulate, if the filmmaker's level of integrity allows that."
"Michael Moore Hates America" is on schedule for release in the summer of 2004... around the same time Moore's next film "Fahreneit 9/11" hits theaters.
Is it counting down to something?
Now I'm going to check out the discussion page... not that there are some opportunities for fun THERE!
