I was driving into work and on the radio they had this syndicated columnist saying that Hugh Jackman was close to being the next James Bond since Pierce Brosnam has indicated he will retire after the next film in 2005.
So the next film would be sometime after that. (2 years?)

This could be hugh! Or series!

I'd rather see an old Sean Connery as Bond than anybody else.
To: hutton
Presumably, by tehn, he will no longer be tied down by his Broadway gigi as Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz.

I could see him as Bond.
He has a suave presence on screen and is plausible in action movies

And those knives embedded in his hands are super for a license to kill.

The 007 movies come out around Christmas now, thus the next one would be out December 2005. So, we aren't likely to see Hugh until at least 2007, IF it comes to pass.
Frankly, Pierce is the second best Bond, behind Connery. If you have read the original Fleming novels, you know that he portrays Bond not as a smart alec romeo, but a cool, cold blooded assasin who does his job not because he likes it, but because he knows it has to be done.
That's why I could never take Roger Moore seriously.
If Jackman could generate a real English accent, then I think he could pull it off.
