The mortal fear that a lumber company might earn a profit has lead the US to prevent effective forest management. This trend will probably stop, now that at least 13 have died and Al Quaida has publically stated it wants to torch our forests as an act of war.
This should prove, once and for all, that Greenpeace offers you neither.

Most RATS in washington are under the impression that they were elected to stop the other party at all costs. It never occurred to them that they were elected to get things done.
Truly disturbing.

While the bill has its merits, I doubt it would have made much of a difference in this case. I don't think that the lumber companies are clamoring to go in and harvest trees from these areas of California. The species don't appear to be the types favored by the lumber companies.

Sadly, Ms. Feinstein, you'll never admit that Prez Bush was right.
More sadly, you'll never get a clue.

One can only hope that the homes burned in CA belonged to tree-huggers who voted to make forests off-limits to logging and other sensible woodland management techniques.

The species don't appear to be the types favored by the lumber companies. Correct. Most of it is junk. As I understand it, it's good for pulp, chipboard, or conversion to energy, not much more.

QUESTION?
Did the eco-terrorists start these fires?
To: HEY4QDEMS
Yes, it is. It's all party, party, party and never mind what the country needs. The greens have had their way long enough. Now it's OUR turn. GO BUSH! Let common sense finally prevail.

I have a question - can someone suggest a good non-profit that advocates in responsible stwerardship and conservation practices, and not the Sierra Club nonsense? Seems like there should be some organizations like this. I can think of Ducks Unlimited, but wanted to know if anyone had some others they can suggest. Thanks...
