To all the other FReepers out there in FReeperland.
Imagine one of your loveliest resort/vacation areas in your state. Put a clean blue lake in the middle of it with pine, fir trees surrounding this lake and then lots of beautiful lakefront homes, resorts and charming mountain commumities with character and history. A real jewel in the crown of your state's vacation spots. Now imagine it all in ashes...a burnt wasteland. This is what us SoCal people are looking at. It is enough to break our hearts.

A friend of mine has a house up in Sawpit Canyon near Arrowhead. .....Has anyone heard any news about that place?

Mine is breaking for you, Conservative. I am so sorry.

When I was a kid, my dad took my brother and I out on Lake Arrowhead in a rowboat. I've got pics somewhere.
Our neighbors had a cabin at Big Bear Lake, and we rented it from them quite a bit.
Such memories. I still love that place, and it will be a crying shame to see it a burned wasteland.

(My aunt's home is okay, grandma's retirement home didn't have to evacuate. Good news there.)

Not more than 2 years ago, we were thinking of moving up to Arrowhead. We really got close to deciding. Now, I am glad we didn't go. But what a shame it is, what a shame. I really feel for all those people.
