They were detaining some guy at a check point with fire turnout gear, I think he had a state OES card...or whatever they carry for liability purposes, but had a fake badge too. They were going to cite and release him, but I think someone is going to arrest him now...

Here''s an update - My brother Bryce and I have just returned from the Crestline community. We were allowed up to the Rim of the World high school because we took a truck load of food to the fire fighters. Many homes in the Rim Forest area are gone and the fire has moved up the hill from there. The Falcon Cable building is gone but the Elks Lodge, lumber yard, and most commercial buildings along the road are still intact with a few small fires still burning along the road. There are over a dozen fire trucks at gas station as that location has become a resting area for several of them. In Crestline from Goodwins parking lot one can see the fire on Strawberry hill moving north north/east down toward Lake Gregory. It appears to be a mile and a half away and not all that big as of yet. In addition we drove to Richard Mondors house in Cedar Pines to get a vantage of the fire coming from the north. There were only two hot spots that had crossed the ridge over two miles away to the northwest with fire crews stationed at the VFW. As to Johnnies market, it was NOT looted. Harold had opened it up to let people in as the kind man that he is. We stopped by the Stockade and had a quick beer, as theres still a dozen people milling around there. They say they plan on being the welcoming committee once we all return home. The BEST NEWS is that there is NO ash in the air or on the ground in Crestline. Im presently staying at March ARB and its raining ash here, some 40 miles away.
