looked like they were unchanged from the '50's

We had a cabin on North Peak, up above Cuyamaca Lake in the fifties. I drove through a few months ago, it looked pretty much the same as I remembered it.

It may be an appropriate time for a warning that the guys who are reporting this stuff are from the same tribe as the guys who are giving us the "quagmire" reports. The sensational always takes precedent over the factual with them. I'm listening directly to the guys on the scene at Cuyamaca who are reporting losing a considerable number of homes along Engineer Road, but saving the fire station and a number of other structures. So, I'd take the "completely" part of "completely destroyed" with a grain of salt. Admitedly things are grim there at the moment, but these guys are pretty good at triaging the saveable from the unsaveable and saving the former.
