Julian is an absolute treasure....

Yes. Last time I saw my best friend alive, we visited Julian -- I have the fondest memories of that place. It is truly lovely and, as you said, a real treasure. I could just cry.

Holy Spirit, please pray for California with groanings too deep for words.

My brother got to go back to his house to check it out today, literally down the street from him are the 150+ houses in Scripps Ranch (off of Pomerado, just off of Fairbrook) that burned down. His house is fine, interior smells like a barbecue.

He was in front of his house today, and someone tapped him on the shoulder and asked if it would be alright to interview him, he turned around and it was Dan Rather! He thanked Dan for covering the story, and politely refused. I don't blame him, all his neighbors lost everything and he was in a tiny patch surrounded on 3 sides that was not hit, what do you say without looking like that lucky SOB who still has a house?
