Thats it...only a major rainstorm will dowse this...the next priority is get everyone out safely and attempt to preserve structural assets.

for that last few years the posted fire danger ni the san gorgonio wilderness and environs has been extreme.

I can attest to that. Every time I hiked past a Forest Service sign, it always had the fire danger as 'Extreme'. And campfires along the trail (Pacific Crest Trail) were prohibited. I never did find out if this was going on for years, or was just since the drought. At any rate, in 200 miles of hiking, I never made a single campfire. I was almost afraid to, as dry as everything was.
