Savage ignoring the fact that there was a huge surge in auto buying running up to the date of the increase.

Good grief. Since our relatives are in their late 70s it may be they aren't aware of the total craziness inflicted on the homeowners in Lake Arrowhead.
Will the sheeple rise up and say enough is enough?

Even if he isn't directly involved whatsoever, there are undoubtedly misguided wacko followers of his that would think they are exacting retribution against the evils who voted for Arnold.

During the recent election Arnold said that he would not raise taxes except in the case of an emergency. Do you think this is that ememergency? I'd hate for him to have to start his term having to raise taxes.

Thanks, Chief...Just after the post I had heard that in fact there have been some fires in Mexico during this current siege..

How about on tomorrow's
Here we go again we break this up into two threads, one for coastal fires and one for Arrowhead/Mountain fires. Would make it a whole lot easier to follow the ones affecting us.
I've got a house full of people from Big Bear at our house - and their collective seven dogs, four cats - and they are itching (scratching and barking) at me for information.
Or, in the alternative, if someone could tell FNC to provide some decent coverage that would also work.

I am from California, I can see why you think that more than 1200 homes have been lost. I think the reason it would be around 1200 and not 12,000 is that there are vast hilly brushy areas that do not contain housing. So there are enclaves with homes that get burned but the majority of the fire is consuming unpopulated brushy areas. JMO. I don't know what point you are trying to make but 1,200 plus homes lost is no minor matter.
What is sad is that much of it could have been avoided if they would just let them cut and thin. In Big Bear, they have actually tagged dead trees that were killed by beatles with signs that say you can not cut this tree. The Beatles thrive there, eat what they want, then move to the next tree. They say 90% of the trees on the north and east side of Lake Arrowhead are dead or dying.
Fuel for fire. Fuel for ire against these very whacked out environmentalist.

Somehow Wes Clark will find a way to blame all this on President Bush.Yep, and he will have taken six different positions on the problem himself. Weasely sure knows how to cover an issue.

Is Vista affected, the area between 76 and 15 fwys?
To: helen crump
You are worried about taxes when people are dying, homes are burning, jobs are lost, mortgages on burnt houses will still need to be paid and firefighters are dropping from exhaustion.
Give it a rest!

Good one. In fact though, Scroots doesn't even post on LP these days - let alone an anti-freeper board.

I'm getting the feeling you don't like me. Besides, there seems to be more people slamming you at this site than any other these days...

My brother went back to his house today, cleaned it all up and spent the rest of the day helping out his neighbors that lost it all. Pure dumb luck that his cul-de-sac was unscathed, I wonder if his old house in Arrowhead is safe, it would a strange irony if that one burned down, he sold it last year.
Been watching the Rugby Cup, the US team is dismal, interesting to watch Samoa vs Georgia the other night, I will probably live 10,000 more days without ever hearing those two national anthems played at the same venue.

There's a hell of a lot of people whose lives have been screwed up by this.
Rugby-wise, I watched the England - Samoa game. Samoa shouldn't have had a prayer but actually gave England a very tough match.

Never discount a Samoan or a Tongan, they are fierce. I ran into a Tongan today at the Hawaiian BBQ, Rugby is a way of life down there, and they love pain!

The bookies had predicted a 46 point advantage. In the end, England scraped the match 35 - 22. They were actually losing at half-time.
I still think England will go all the way and beat Australia in the final though.

I don't know what point you are trying to make but 1,200 plus homes lost is no minor matter I was not "trying" as you say to make a point. I was answering a query in a previous post. To your "attitude" I actually have my in-laws staying with me bc they have been evacuated from Big Bear. So I don't need you preaching to me about homes lost.
