I am watching the citizens response with great interest living in Fountain Hills, AZ One match and this place would go up like a Dried out Christmas tree. The cactus is
so dry and the neighbors are so lazy with dried brush next to the houses. I have a roof made clay, but patio made of wood. I am glad we are responding to help (AZ firefighters). I know with our drought it's only a matter of time. Water here is critical.

Russians know about fires. There were these bog fires this winter in Russia, north of Moscow that burned for months. Necessity is the mother of invention.

...DEEP ENOUGH FOR MARINE LAYER CLOUDS TO REACH THE MOUNTAIN FOOTHILLS AND MAY PRODUCE LOCAL DRIZZLE.

Sounds good...but won't the heating effects of the fire mitigate the benefits somewhat?

This afternoon and tonight will be the turning point (if there is one) Prayers and hope that they can stop this inferno from burning the whole mountain. Some of the firefighters say they don't have any food and haven't eaten since yesterday and no sleep either up there, so they are really stretched to the limit.

you got them. . .spreading word to family members and friends.

cold, and high humidity is our friend. It's all a plus. It won't put out the fires, but what it will do is slow them down drastically, allowing attacks to be mounted, backfires to be more safely placed.

The cloud cover will choke our friends there with smoke.

Whatever settlements are on the valley floor -- maybe Apple Valley, Victorville areas -- they're getting hit with smoke cover. I tried to take pics but my digital card won't cooperate.

Back in September, I watched the MARS water-bombers attack the Okanagan Mtn. fire at Kelowna.

Not quite the size of this puppie but they're impressive beasts, nonetheless!

Easier reading :)

A weak coastal eddy will spin up tonight with local clouds and fog in the coastal zones late. The eddy will strengthen wednesday and more extensive cloud cover is expected wednesday night as the marine layer continues to deepen. On thursday the combined effects of the eddy and the strong onshore flow associated with the trough will result in dramatic cooling west of the mtns. By friday the marine layer will be fairly deep...deep enough for marine layer clouds to reach the mountain foothills and may produce local drizzle.
As for the winds with this deep upper low...a low level jet core is forecast over the region thursday and friday bringing the potential for strong southwest winds in the mountains and deserts.

They said it was a new alert, although I heard that as new news last night. I think the news channels are pressed to get out accurate information at this point.

I just heard that 40 ambulances are on way to Big Bear to evacuate the hospital

wishful thinking probably. They do not want to move fragile patients unless absolutely necessary. The stress of the move might be bad on some of them, so they don't want to do it, unless they absolutely have to do so.
