It's the yearly "feel sorry for Californians" spectacle. They have either an earthquake or flood or fire or landslide at least once a year it seems.

The mountain section is rural. Chatsworth though is right north of the San Fernando Valley though. There are a bunch of homes in the hills, but not too many. It's north of the valley basically.

Okay, you're trolling well; I could not help but respond to this one, as your ignorance is staggering.

Not all of the areas that are affected are forest areas. In fact, not all of the areas affected are residential in the slightest; many of the locations where the fires started were open, unused land. There are thousands and thousands of miles of area in Southern California, and if you haven't heard recently, we're currently in a budget defecit. Where, exactly, do you want us to pull the money for more forest management? From the air? Do you have a money tree, troll?

Please, before I get any angrier at your ignorant comments, I recommend you read the live news-only thread I've been posting, and actually /read/ it so that you have a clue of what's going on out here. Once you've completed all nearly 100 posts, /then/ you might have a clue as to what's going on. Oh - and don't post on that thread unless you're posting fire news; it is intended as a news-only, no-commentary thread.

Until then, curb your idiotic comments, because they're not needed nor wanted by any of us who are watching fire rain practically from the sky.

For another perspective,the devastating tornados in the Okla. City area a few years ago destroyed about 2000 homes.Were you in Okla. then?

I'm afraid the Calif. fires are well on the way to topping that number and tornados are over quicker.The stress on many folks in Calif. must be terrible.
