All retail sales businesses in SC (even if they are illegal) must have a license and collect sales taxes.

Do governments think we are really THAT stupid? Or are they just looking for another charge?
I bet they have great fun with lemonade stands, huh?

You can't store liquor in a place of business? Hopefully you are being sarcastic. What about grocery stores, bars, wholesalers, restaurants, etc?

I guess I need to clarify that: In SC you cannot store liquor in a business not licensed to sell the product being sold. Here is a real oddity for you. You cannot store or sell any retail item other than liquor in a liquor store. No cigarettes, magazines, candy, chips, bottle openers, nothing.

The law applies to retail sales. It makes no mention of legal or illegal products. Sales are sales and taxes are to be collected. The product is irrelevant.

Any temporary business not selling over $500 per month is exempt from collecting taxes or licensing. (This is literally called the lemonade stand clause.)
