Breaking news should be news that affects most of us.

Where'd you come up with that definition? In the field of journalism, "breaking" is "happening as we speak."

Exactly, but it should affect most of us. In my little town, if there is a accident, that would constitute breaking news, so, should it be posted in FR's breaking news catagory? Or would you prefer not to hear about news from a community of 800 or so people? The point being, FR is a community, and our breaking news stories should be stories that would be of interest to the majority of freepers.
