Smith and Clinton are people who didn't latch onto "the fad of the day" in serving the cause of civil rights

Can anyone name one thing - one specific thing, not just "holding fast to principle" - Bill Clinton ever did to serve the cause of civil rights?

He said he was black. He felt their pain (after the cocain wore off, anyway)

He lied about black churches being burned down when he was a child - many other whoppers told while campaigning ...oh yea, ? fathered Danny Williams...yep, he was the first Black President alright!

He was certainly just as fair and evenhanded in his treatment of blacks as with anyone else; he backstabbed them and betrayed them at every opportunity he had to do so, just as he did everyone else who ever misplaced their trust in him. In that sense, at least, he can accurately be described as having treated blacks and whites identically, without favour.
