Their agents tell them they are God's gift to humanity, and they believe it. All in all, actors are the most dimwitted characters in Hollywood. Believe me. At least directors and producers have to think a bit to do their jobs. Not that there aren't nutters among them. But all in all, actors aren't very bright. When you have more money than you'll ever need, when you've shopped till you've dropped, solving the Middle East issue seems like a nice flight of fancy.
