Yes, but normally you would think that out of control fires burning up over 1100 homes and killing at least 13 (perhaps dozens more) would be BIG news in and of itself, whether arson or not . . . the way the media is treating this is one of the strangest things I've ever observed . . . should be wall to wall, 24/7 on all the big cable news channels . . .

TL..don't have any Reynolds wrap in the kitchen, however, my brother has been on 3 fires during the last 6 days and he told me yesterday afternoon that many of the oldtimer firefighters feel that the uncanny placement of hot spots is beyond an act of nature. He has been in the business for 25 years and can't believe that the past week is a fluke.

the NE end of the park by Santee is exactly the area I am concerned about... Me too. My SIL lives there on Rumson Road. West Hills Parks is right behind her house. Cross streets are basically Mast Blvd. and the 52. My husband's family all lives in the SD area.
And to top it off, my brother lives in the area in San Bernardino where the Old Fire destroyed 300+ homes. Needless to say, I've been on this computer a lot for the last day or so. Good thing I'm on vacation or I'd be getting next to no work done!

Get this; on this map, if you go down halfway between the first "i" in "Kingspine" and up halfway from the "R" in "Rue Cheaumont" on that elongated T of a street, and in the little nook on the left edge, that is my brother's cul-de-sac.
Evidently, the house is still there, a car they had to leave there is still there and in good shape. His cul-de-sac is atop a hill about 40 feet or so from ther road connecting to Pomerado Road, and the houses there were saved.
Incredible!

should be wall to wall, 24/7 on all the big cable news channels . I agree with you. Somebody needs to start a cable news channel that covers the damn NEWS!!!

Doesn't Arnold have his own Chopper? I know he could afford to rent one for the day. That would be impressive, using his own money to check on the devastation.

Nope, I just go to the county search and look for fire/brush postings, mixed in with the vehicle hazards, etc.

I am in that area right now. My son goes to West Hills High.. We are fine. Lots of smoke around still but no homes were lost in Santee that I am aware of. It was close.. very close in many, many areas but we're ok so far.
I think the only way it could get bad again is if the winds kick up in a big way. Its blowing west right now which is in our favor (if you live in Santee..)
To: Jackie-O
Hi Jackie,
Thanks so much for your concern. Luckily I live in West Los Angeles in an area about 6 miles from the coast. Fortunately our area is not at risk in this fire. However the air is "smoky" and you can't see the stars at night. It tears me up when I think about all these people losing there home. One lady on the radio was saying her firm in in San Bernadino, at least half that work there have lost their homes or been affected adversely. She said that two people showed up to work today after losing their houses left with only the clothes on their back. WOW. People are amazing sometimes.
