That must have been quite a while ago. So who goes to those Lutheran churches nowadays Koreans mostly. One of the old Lutheran Churches has become an Arab mission (there is a large and growing Arab Muslim population here) to converth the Muslims to Christianity.
Believe it or not, there is a Norway Day parade here in May. It gets smaller and smaller every year.

Did I read that one of Al's ancestors inspired Luther to nail the paper to the door? Thereby, Al actually had something to do with starting or inventing the Reformation.

Will the last WASP in Brooklyn please turn off the lights on your way out. Believe it or not, its getting to the point where you can change "WASP" to "Italian." The Italo-American population around here is aging and not getting any younger.
BTW: My favorite contribution of Lutherans to the USA is "Davey and Goliath."

Last Year at our Luther Day celebration pastor asked us to toast Martin Luther!
I stood up, held my drink high, (well it was Kool Aid punch! What do you expect at a Lutheran hoo haa event!). I then asked everyone to "Hail and remember our religious leader Martin Luther King!"
I guess the goof can occur, even in a Lutheran Church!!

FYI: Davey & Goliath was produced by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Who else would have a dog sing "A Mighty Fortress is Our God?"

Luther was pretty much of a box office flop. Why? It didn't stir up any controversy even though it painted Catholic officialdom as hideously bad even though reality had more shades of gray. What the producers should have done was gotten Vatican officials to DENOUNCE this movie as an example of anti-Catholic bigotry. The surprising thing is that this movie came in under the radar with nary a protest from Catholics even though the flick, although good in many parts, did go over the edge in denouncing Catholic officials in the interest dramatic license. If the producers had stirred up such controversy and had this movie DENOUNCED, Luther probably would have been a box office hit, instead of a flop.
