This announcement greeted me as I went to Amazon.com this morning:
Amazon has done what most public libraries would like to if they only had unlimited tax funds, more books and perhaps a larger customer base.
Now there's a tool to find the books with a mention of your favorite (or most hated, either way) politician, or an issue such as global warming or assisted suicide.
Try it, you'll like it!
[DISCLAIMER: I have no personal or monetary interest in Amazon, other than I like to buy books from them.]

Sheesh.
This takes search engines to a completely new level.
I still, however, could find no mentions of the word "gbltzflk".

That because nobody has thought up an acronym using that particular series of consonants, Laz.
Patience. It's bound to happen someday.
(I got three results from teotwawki. Surprised?)

gbltzflk: Gibbon Babboon Loves To Zot Free Lunch Kitchens.
VERY common phrase. Very surprised I could not find it.

The Author's Guild is not happy:
http://www.authorsguild.org/news/amazon_launches_full.htm
We've reviewed the contracts of major trade publishers and concluded that these publishers do not have the right to participate in this program without their authors' permission. We wrote to these publishers after we learned about the program in July. Most argued with our interpretation of their contract (no surprise there), but some have said that they would remove a work from the program if the author insisted.

Yes, it's very common. However, I own the patent on it and you now owe me residuals every time someone on this forum uses the word.

Hmm.
Do you suppose the Author's Guild has the same attorney that RIAA is using to sue the pants off music downloaders?

...Gay Boys Like To Zing For Little Kids
(I know it's lame but just try to think of a verb that starts with the letter "Z" which is appropriate)

Amazon's New Database Likely to Help Sales of Some Works, May Undermine Others Why don't they give it a chance and find out?
To: logician2u
I just tried it. Too bad Amazon doesn't give you the option of searching within the book, or searching just by titles or author. I typed in something, and over 12,000 entries came up. Who wants to wade through that?!! Amazon just became harder to use, in my opinion. It takes longer now because you have to wait for the initial 12,000 entries to come up, then you have to sort them by whatever, and wait again for the 12,000 entries to come up. Really slows you down. Not good if you have a slow connection.

Al Gore invented this new tool.

If you want, I believe you can still use the "advanced search" which lets you search on author, ISBN, titles, etc.
Now if they'd just combine those filters with the word search . .
