[history]
Three Latin American civil rights organizations sent letters to U.S. senators last week urging support of federal recognition of Native Hawaiians.
Federal recognition has been proposed in a bill, S. 344, that is stalled in the Senate. The measure

Please contact your reps, senators and Pres. Bush to encourage them not to support S. 344. Govorner Lingle promised when she was campaigning to push for this and when Pres Bush was here she talked to him about it. It is a big mistake and the only thing it would do is cause more hate here.

"The measure more widely known as the Akaka bill, because one of its sponsors is Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawai" I don't know what it is, but something doesn't smell right about this bill.

Why would this be a mistake? I lived in Hawaii for three years, so I'm aware of the tensions. But this is long overdue.
IMO, the thing to watch for is not letting future Hawaiian "reservations" slip further into poverty.

The Hawaiian recognition bill seeks to pull a thoroughly integrated ethnic group out of society and create an ethnic nationalist government. The same arguments favoring an ethnic Hawaiian nation would also favor nationhood for Mexican-Americans, whose radical sovereignty groups MEChA and Nation of Aztlan are very active in California and the Southwest. The legal theory behind the Hawaiian recognition bill makes Hawaiian nationalism the thin edge of a knife poised to balkanize America and perhaps eventually dismember it. Hawaiian nationalism, Chicano nationalism, Black nationalism, and demands for reparations are destabilizing America. Passage of the Hawaiian Recognition bill would give legal and political support to all such radical movements.

"Aztlan here we come!"
Yep, their agenda isn't hidden at all. We really need to close the borders for quite some time. At least 20 or 30 years. It is the only way.

Another step towards the Balkinization of America. Immigration and multiculturalism will tear this country apart.

A tropical Las Vegas for the native Hawaiians and political hay for the Aztlan movement.

Just one more bill designed to kiss the a$$es of a complaining , left wing minority group that does not represent the whole. Are the "leaders" of this special interest group seeing dollar signs???? Do they want casinos on "their property">

Are the "leaders" of this special interest group seeing dollar signs????They televised a public interested program to explain what this bill will do and at least 75% of what they talked about was how much money the Hawaiians would get from the government in addition to what they already get. I can't describe how against this I am. It will be divisive and split this island state as well as the US right down the middle, with La Raza and their ilk on one side and the rest of us on the other.

Casinos and tax free smokes coming up!
To: GrandmaPatriot
Well, you can bet that any crybaby minority group screaming oppression, racism, and down with the white man will get freight liners full of cash sent over from the wimps in DC.
Plus, they will want to do a land grab, then set up casinos that like in the indian territories, will benefit a few at the top, not unlike communism.
