I work in private industry, have a Master's Degree, 14 years experience abroad, speak a second language, sometimes works 12 and 14 hour days, have problems even taking a couple of days off (not to mention a whole summer), can't even crack $50K in a higher cost of living state and have a job that could be gone tomorrow for any reason or no reason. And I pay a substantial part of my lesser income to subsidize these type of lifestyles.
But you don't have to deal with those grueling chorus rehearsals. Count your lucky stars.
