FWIW, some bulimics don't rely strictly on barfing to purge, or don't stick a finger down the throat at all - their favorite means of purging after an episode of gorging, is to abuse laxatives and diuretics.

Laxative abuse can cause life-threatening electrolite imbalance, even if only done occasionally.

Unusual erosion of tooth enamel is a sign of bulimia, but you can be bulimic and have good teeth.
