Governor races in November
Posted on 10/24/2003 12:14:34 PM PDT by TJC
Are there any polls other than realclearpolitics.com on the Mississippi, Louisiana and Kentucky Governor races? Realclearpolitics has no polling numbers for Mississippi. Is there any inside info. on these races? We do not hear much about them in Caifornia.
TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2003
It would be nice to win three southern governorships going onto the '04 elections. I believe Mississippi and Kentucky have rat governors and Louisiana has a rebuplican.

I thought Mississippi was a tossup right now.
I did a news.google.com search of mississippi polls and didn't return any numbers.
The only other place I know of is Pollingreport.com, and their state reports you have to pay for...

I've seen no polls on MS, but a couple of articles have mentioned that Pubbie Barbour has a slight lead in most polls, but it's still a tight race.

Im surprised there is not more posting on this. I remember the NJ and Virginia races in '01 had allot of posts and discussion.

From what I read Musgrove is playing dirty and Barbour is angry. I hope he keeps his cool and fights fire with fire. I did read in the Washington Times today that Barbour is thought to have good chance and Musgrove is 77 years old.

Winning all three and the pick up in Kalifornistain would seem to me a big mo for '04.

That age for Musgrove was a misprint. I think he's in his late 40s/early 50s.

MS election laws state that if no candidate receives a majority of the vote (51%), then the winner shall be determined by who won the most House districts. If two candidates win an equal amount of House districts, then the MS House will vote for the winner.
This is what happened in 1999. Musgrove beat Mike Parker, 50%-49%. Musgrove won 61 MS House districts. Ditto for Parker. The MS House declared Musgrove the winner. The same scenario might happen in November 2003.
