Three Israelis killed at Neztarim settlement in Gaza Strip

Three Israelis - two women and a man - were killed and two others were wounded in an infiltration by at least one Palestinian who infiltrated the Gaza Strip settlement of Netzarim at around 4:20 A.M. Friday.

The wounded, a man with moderate wounds and a woman in serious condition, were airlifted to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment.

Military officials said the infiltrator or infiltrators crossed the exterior fence and opened fire. The settlement itself was not breached, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Three Israelis were killed in a terrorist attack on Netzarim," a security source said. "A terrorist was killed after a pursuit on the outskirts of the community."

He said troops were searching the area for a possible accomplice.

Al Manar television, run by Hezbollah, said a caller to its Gaza office claimed joint responsibility on behalf of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Following the attack, troops closed off the road between the settlement, located in the northern Strip, and the Karni crossing in the south, Army Radio reported.

Palestinian shot dead at Alei Sinai The attack comes hours after Israel Defense Forces troops shot dead a Palestinian man who they say approached the fence surrounding the Gaza Strip settlement of Alei Sinai late Thursday, Israel Radio reported.

Three Israelis were lightly wounded in a shooting attack after nightfall Thursday, settlers and rescue personnnel said. A Palestinian gunman was shot dead, the settlers said.

The three Israelis - two women and a young boy - were wounded when shots were fired at a car on a road near the Kissufim crossing point between Gaza and Israel, a route used by settlers to reach their homes in a bloc of settlements in southern Gaza.

Israel Radio reported that two gunmen had opened fire on the vehicle, and that a gun battle had taken place in the area.

The IDF had no immediate comment.

Also in Gaza, Palestinians fired two mortars at the Gaza Strip settlement of Neveh Dekalim. The mortars landed in the settlement's industrial zone; there were no reports of injuries or damage.

In the West Bank, one Palestinian was killed and a second was wounded in separate "work accidents" Thursday. Witnesses said that one man was killed in an explosion that occurred while he was in the process of preparing a bomb, while Israel Radio reported that another Palestinian was seriously wounded when an explosive device detonated in Ein Yabrud, next to Ramallah.

Witnesses said undercover IDF troops arrested an Islamic Jihad activist in Ramallah, Israel Radio reported.
