So sad. Rest in peace, brave soldier. And may God comfort the wounded and all families involved.

Define good news. Define bad news. Don't do it for me, just for yourself.

It's time to build "Bondsteel" fortresses as in Kosovo and forget about searching for weapons of mass destruction (they were gone long ago). If Bush doesn't do this the steady stream of body bags may throw him out of office.

First, allow me to give thanks for our having been served by the individual who gave his life today, and for the service of those wounded. We are a better nation than many suppose, if only because we produce such good young men and women.

Secondly, withdrawing into "Camp Bondsteels" would be an act of stupidity, in both strategic and tactical terms. In strategic terms, we would cede the initiative, and the territory, to the enemy. The enemy would perceive this as weakness and would redouble his efforts to kill our men. ALWAYS show strength and fortitude to the Arab: it is the only thing he understands.

Tactically, battalions bunched up in fortifications would become mortar bait. We don't want our people to have to live in fighting holes during their whole tour now, do we?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

The Democrats show fake pity but the Bush administration (sorry to say) is playing down the deaths. They act as if they do not want to acknowledege the sacrifice because it makes them look bad. We should be memorizing the names of these brave soldiers and erecting monuments to them. That is how a society steels itself to victory in war. We should not be treating these deaths as an overseas version of a traffic accident.

How come we aren't getting the number of total wounded?

This is a free country, right?
