Good point. But does Wal-Mart become liable if they hire a cleaning crew that hires illegals? Do they need to check out the hiring credentials first? (I really don't know, but may be a cause.)
I believe that an employee that works at another company has to be registered or some such (can't think of the word) before being able to work there on-site. Could this be a cause?

This pleases my very being.
Well at least insomuch as it doesn't put a crimp on my access to cheap labor needed to do menial tasks such as lawn work, cooking and cleaning. If it was to affect my access to these services I would very likely have a differing opinion.

The illegals work for the contract company, that company is required to do the I-9s and verify status. Wal-Mart would never actually have anything to do with the I-9s because these particular individuals are not the employees of Wal-Mart, they are the employees of the contract agency.

If it does then you and I are liable if we hire a roofing company to re-roof our home, and they are using illegal aliens as roofers.

Sub-contractor's have to deduct taxes from paychecks, and pay workers compensation benefits, etc. When they hire illegals they pay them under the table and pass on any benefits. Wal Mart has a responsibility to know who their sub-contractors hire. I worked at TRW for years and they also hired cleaning crews that can't spit out a word of English. Who cleaned our halls and bathrooms before the immigration wave of the last 5-10 years? They didn't clean themselves.....citizens did! Citizens who can no longer get those jobs because the sub-contractors are mostly hispanic and only work other hispanics. That's all we see here in Southern California.

The cleaning crews at local Wal-Marts are all W-M employees and a lot of them are illegals. I know that for a fact.
