Q. What do you call it when Federal officials arrest more than 300 illegal workers at 61 Wal-Mart stores across the country?

A. A good start.

Looks like many have been RELEASED, after they PROMISED to appear for their deportation hearing.

It this that tough Texas law we've all heard about?

Or was this on President Bush's orders?

do not hold the majority view here about undocumented workers

It's not a suprise that you'd be in the minority here.
You gave yourself away comrade by using the commiecRAT pc phrase
"undocumented workers," instead of the correct term "criminal invaders."

Oct 12, 2003 huh?
Do you mind if I stand away from you?
I don't like to be to close to Zot's.

So very true. In Central Texas, that is all there is in the construction industry. The question for all of us is whether the cheaper price on the house is worth looking the other way on illegal immigration.

You don't think Wal-Mart knows ? You go into a Wal Mart in LA and half the employees can hardly speak English. LOL!>>>>>>

Just about the same here in TX.

Many here still wondering HOW WM verifies all these "foreign diploma's ??? As WM here will not hire Americans that do not have a high school diploma.

Bernard Marx- Excellent reply- no less than I would expect from a Freeper! I think you are right on the money with your analysis.

I have to admit to some nostalgia for the old Main Street, with all the different (though expensive) specialty stores- but I must admit that we shop at WAL-MART and SAM'S Club to save money (I just saved over $200.00 on my snow tires over what the local tire store wanted for them- nostalgia be damned!)

Is this ultimately good for the economy and the country? I really don't know. I do know that protectionism has NEVER worked as a national policy, and it probably won't work at the local level, either.

It's been common knowledge that Wal-mart has employed illegal aliens for years...

I worked at Wal-Mart in 1997 and 1998 and made comments at that time that all of the stores I went in had cleaning crews from the same country, many of which didn't speak English.

Is there any point to citizenship? Why bother if we just open the door and allow anyone and everyone to come in with no allegiance, history, or appreciation for what America is and what it stands for? Don't you think that leads us down a self-destructive path?

There's a lot more to the immigration issue than labor migration. It's naive and shortsighted to limit the scope of your consideration to just that.

Nice to know these illegals were arrested, & nicer if they are also DEPORTED.

It would be sweet -then we can start the sweeps from North to South & grab all the illegals. Deporting the scum that hired the illegals would also seem fitting.

Go to places like LA or SD or Houston. Half the freaking employees can hardly speak English....LOL!

The private school my daughter attended got caught up in this situation a few years ago. They hired a company to clean the school every night. That company hired illegals and were raided and put out of business. Hard to fault the school tho.

That illegal aliens, even in the rare case where they are arrested, are summarily released pending their hearings, just chaps my hide, y'know?

Considering some undocumented workers have been found to be carrying a particularly virulent strain of tuberculosis, I must disagree with you.

You need to take the Walmart hate blinders off. Let me address each of your ranting points:

"Let me guess, you think this company along with all the other companies out there are all innocent?"

I think any company that enters into a contract with minimal expectations is innocent of laws broken by the other member of that contract. When entering a contract the minimum standard is that the laws will be obeyed.

Walmart hired this company to maintain all personal records and provide flexibility not normally available with a the direct labor of any company.

"You don't think Wal-Mart knows ? You go into a Wal Mart in LA and half the employees can hardly speak English. LOL!"

Many Citizens in this country can hardly speak english, especially in LA! Why would this constitute that Walmart knows they are illegals? Are we expecting Walmart to maintain the personnel records for these contracted employees? Are we going to require of all companies or just Walmart?

"And you stand here supporting these a$$holes that push communist products all day?"

I don't support Walmart, in fact I have never set foot in one of their stores. I don't know what products they sell, but you should look around your home and find out how many of these products came from China. What percentage of your next car will be manufactured in China? Is that OK, because they have a UAW workforce?

"Let me guess, another konservative?"

Yep, Conservatives generally react with the mind, not the heart. Your entire post is very emotional and reactive, you should answer that question yourself.

The 'bust' of some 250 illegal workers @ a TJ Maxx warehouse (last week)

Same thing. I think that was Indiana. This is so freaking out of control.

And since the supermarket strike you get all these freepers say, "Oh, I like Walmart, and the prices they charge for their products fit my budget".

While the company employees illegal aliens and and sell Red Chinese products....LOL!

"The question for all of us is whether the cheaper price on the house is worth looking the other way on illegal immigration."

I paid for a large part of college by working construction in the Summer, and I am not real happy that these jobs are mostly done by illegals now- with poor pay and no benefits.

BUT, I guess the real answer to your question depends on whether you are BUILDING the house, or BUYING the house...
