At least in Calfornia, we benefit from them much more than we pay out.Is this suppose to be a joke?

No. As it is we have an unregulated system where tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are crossing back and forth over our borders every year.Bull crap, the federal government panders to illegals, they have no damn intention of stopping the epic lawlessness.
They could stop this never ending flood in 48 hours if they had the desire.....

I worked as a contractor at a major telecom corporation. Pays very very well but the way it works is that the paychecks come from the agency, you're employed by the agency, your benefits come through the agency plan, and you turn in your timesheet to the agency. Just to shed a little light on how it works.
That said, the only time I ever dealt with the agency was over the phone about once a month or whenever there was a problem with my check.

Seriously. I'm with Joe when it comes to booting illegals and not allowing them to work here, and while he's probably very correct in excoriating Wal-Mart here, he does seem to be operating from some sort of pre-conceived feeling of ill will towards big business (esp. those that are non-union).

At least in Calfornia, we benefit from them much more than we pay out. Who are you trying to kid? LOL. The staggering social costs of illegal immigration vastly exceed any economic benefit you think Illegals contribute to the economy. Take any one of these welfare items alone and you have a net economic negative. Take em all together and you have a financial calamity.
Ever ponder on why CA's Budget has spiraled totally out of control and how that tracks with the growth of the illegal alien population in CA?

think about the implications of union organized American fruit, lettuce and grape pickers.
Spewing Rhetoric shows your ignorance. Farm workers under UFW contract enjoy decent wages, benefits & working conditions.

I know that Wal-Mart doesn't have unions. I was referring to unions in general. As in all unions in the United States.

"D*mn these people wanting to work! No punishment is too harsh. (I do not hold the majority view here about undocumented workers. I'm sorry, I just can't.)"
Illegal workers do not have a right to any jobs in this country -- it's really quite simple.

"That would instantly collapse Californias agricultural economy. All well and good you might say, until you find yourself paying $10 for a head of lettuce at the supermarket."
Let the free market work without trying to justify illegal labor practices.

he does seem to be operating from some sort of pre-conceived feeling of ill will towards big business (esp. those that are non-union). Before you make yourself an absolute fool out of yourself, do a search and look for my statement, "I like to put on my F union shirt and go push the issue on some union parasite".
Go ahead, look back about two weeks or so. You'll find it. Without going into personal matters, I wish I could tell you what kind of contact I've had with unions in the past, and it's not from a union members stand point, or an employers stand point, I can assure you.
The only time in my life I ever spoke up for unions was this most recent supermarket strike when the union never made any real demands for higher wages and better benefits, and it was basically initiated by the markets looking to reduce benefits etc...
And It was my position that this was another sign that the standard of living, wages and benefits were declining in America. *That was my position*.
Go do that search, you'll find that post, if your interested in the truth..

Think about the lettuce story a second. Lettuce is planted in rows. You could easily pick 1 head of lettuce every 20 seconds without sweating too hard. That is 3 heads a minute. 180 an hour. Assume workers now are being paid $4 an hour under the table, and lettuce is $1 a head.
To go up $9 a head, the workers would have to ask for more money than some lawyers make. The $10 figure is a joke.

That is surprising- if the skilled trades aren't going to worry about thisI would say that the higher the skill level of the union member, the more likely he is to be a conservative and vote republican. I'd bet Arnolds 40% of the union vote came from the skilled trades. I work in a union machine shop making jet fighter parts and a huge number of us oppose illegal immigration and do not vote democratic.
A few weeks ago some of us had a talk with our local president over the AFL-CIO's support of an "Illegal Immigrant Freedom Ride". He agreed with us and said he would not give any of the locals money to this.

I really don't give a damn what anyone is making, as long as they are here legally.
You keep bringing up farmworkers. Do you realize most of that is now automated? Do you realize the *millions* of illegals are not standing on some field in central California picking lettuce? They are crawling all over the cities bro. There working at Wal Mart! LOL!
