The man who walked away virtually unharmed from a plunge over Niagara Falls said he had been suicidal, but the experience made him want to live. The comments contradict statements from authorities suggesting Kirk Jones was simply a daredevil -- the latest in a long line who have sought to conquer Niagara Falls over the past century.
Jones, 40, was released from the hospital into police custody Wednesday evening, but officials did not immediately say where he was taken.
In a note to a fellow patient who was released from the hospital, Jones said life has much to offer. "When you are feeling down, just remember the power of the Niagara," said the handwritten note, which Brandon Steward said was given to him by Jones...

I hope this guy get's it together. He's been given a second chance. It seems a shame that he went over Niagara without a barrel and survived and can't see that anything besides the power of the water may have been protecting him.

Just wait now, all of our lives we've been told "Niagara Falls" The power of it,The awe of visiting it etc. and now some kook/goon has shattered that reality. Thanks alot dumb_ss! How long until some teenager or anyone else for that matter says, 'Hey it's not dangerous, that man lived, I'm going to do that next'. That guy deserves a 72 hour lockdown and full mental evaluation. "I'm not suicidal". Yeah, like that Delores from the group 'the Cranberries' sings after getting a grip: "and I'm not so suicidal after all, at all, at all, at all". At least she just felt like she was going to die (as a teenager in Ireland) and didn't hop in one of the Worlds most powerful rivers. I haven't watched any interviews w/ this guy and refuse to watch any Sunday night movie about him either.
